Publish your Presentation in Adobe Presenter 6

After you have set your presentation settings and preferences, have added your audio and/or video, and made any last changes to your presentation, you are ready to publish the presentation using Adobe Presenter.

In order to make any future changes to your Project file, you will need to save both the PowerPoint .ppt file (at this time files must be saved in the 2003 format) and the Adobe Presenter .ppc file. The .ppc file contains the audio files and everything else that you created using the Adobe Presenter ribbon.

When you are ready to publish, click Publish on the Adobe Presenter tab and you will be presented with this dialog box.

At this point, you still have some decisions to make, and you can still make some changes.

  1. You will want to publish to your computer, which is the default. At this time we do not have an Adobe Connect Server established for Presenter files.
    • Select My Computer from the menu bar at left.
    • Click Browse to locate the folder where you want to store the presentation along with all the audio files.
    • You may want to make a new folder to store all of these files.
  2. You can elect to create a zip file of all of the essential files by checking the “Zip files” box. This will create a *.zip file in the location you choose in the Folder: box.
  3. If you anticipate that you will be burning this presentation onto a CD, check the “Generate autorun for CD” box. This will create the file so that it will play when the CD is opened.
  4. On the right, you will see the presentation information.
    • You can verify that all the information is correct, or you can change/edit/delete information by clicking the Settings button.
    • This will take you to the Presentation Settings dialog where you can make your changes.
    • You can also change the theme by selecting a new one from the theme drop menu.
  5. When all is correct, click the Publish button. Wait for this process to finish.
  6. When completed, you will have the option of viewing the output file (the presentation with audio) which will launch your default web browser and begin the presentation.

NOTE: If you make changes to the content of the source PowerPoint, you will need to publish the presentation again. If you publish to the same folder (recommended), you will be prompted to replace the existing folders. Answer “yes” and the new version will be created in the same location. You may close and save your PowerPoint presentation.

You may also exit out of PowerPoint.

Inside the folder where you saved the presentation and associated files, you will find the following:

If you choose the Generate autorun for CD option, you will have these files in that folder:

The data folder contains the slides, animations (*.swf, *.fla), movies, attachments and other needed files for the presentation. When you transfer this to a web server or personal web space, you must remember to transfer the entire presentation folder.

Opening a Zipped Published Presentation

Once a Presentation has been published, you can still review, edit, or update the files. Be aware that if you make any changes, you must republish it. If you created a zip file you will need to expand it before you can view it. To do so:
  1. Navigate to folder with.zip file
  2. Either double-click on the .zip file or right click and select Expand
  3. The expanded folder should appear in the same location as the .zip file
  4. You MUST copy all the files from the zipped folder into a new folder before you can view your published presentation.
