Configuring the Apple iPhone to Access the College of Ag Exchange Server

Apple’s iPhone 2.0 software, on first generation or 3G iPhones, provides the ability to quickly and easily configure your iPhone to access your e-mail, calendar and contacts on the college of Ag Science’s Exchange server.

How To Configure Your iPhone

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap Add Account
  4. Tap Microsoft Exchange
  5. In the Email section enter your address (abc123@psu.edu)
  6. In the username section enter your user ID in the format of ag\abc123
  7. In the Password field enter your College of Ag password
  8. In the Description field name this account Ag Exchange or any other name of your choosing (if you view more than one e-mail account this will allow you to differentiate among them)
  9. Tap Next
  10. Enter the Server address: exchange.ag.psu.edu
  11. Tap Next
  12. By Default, Mail is ON. If you want to also sync your Exchange calendar or your Exchange Contacts, tap to turn those options on. ***Note: Adding your Exchange Calendar or Contacts will cause existing calendars and/or Contacts to be deleted.
  13. Tap Save
  14. Read mail!

By default the iPhone will sync 3 days of email.  You can adjust this by going to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap your Exchange account, tap Mail Days to Sync and make your selection from the options provided.

Note: On Aug 1, 2008 Slipstick Systems posted a page which detailed iPhone, Outlook, and disappearing appointments.
