Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences

Request Access Account for PSU Paid Employee

College of Ag Science faculty and staff will normally have TWO accounts. They will have a Penn State Access Account and a College of Ag Sciences' AG account.

New faculty and staff who are paid from Penn State need to apply and be granted a  Penn State Access Account from Penn State's Information Technology Services (ITS) unit before a College of Ag Sciences' AG account can be created for them. We use this unique UserID to create the AG account.

Note: As of Sept 2, 2008 College of Ag Science faculty and staff should NOT use the PDF form that is sent back to Ag IT Computer Unit - Access Accts.

STEP 1 - New Employee: Request Access Account from Penn State

In order to obtain a Penn State Access Account faculty and staff who are paid from PSU should:

  1. Complete the Access Account application form in their human resources "new hire" package.
    or
Download the Penn State Access Account application for faculty and staff from the Information Technology Services (ITS) Accounts Services Office Online Application Forms Central.
  2. You then return the completed form to the ITS Accounts Services via surface mail or fax per the contact information on the form.
  3. Once you've submitted this form, ITS requests that you allow three business days for the form to be processed.

Note: The College of Ag Sciences IT group can no longer obtain original passwords for county Extension staff. In order to obtain your Penn State UserID and password you must go to an ITS Signature Station.

  4. You are required to go to an Information Technology Services (ITS) Signature Station and follow the instructions there to obtain your Penn State UserID and password.
  5. Make note of your UserID and password once they display on the screen.

Note: Once obtained, the Penn State Access Account will be fully functional within one business day.

STEP 2 - New Employee: Request AG Account

Note: Not all College faculty and staff need an AG account. The following are services that use an AG Account. If you have questions on the need for an AG account, please contact Computer Support at 814-865-1229.

  • Computer Login (for a machine in AG domain)
  • Email (for College Exchange account)
  • RedDot
  • SharePoint sites

Once the Access Account form is processed and the Penn State assigned UserID is created, you will submit a Help Desk Submission Form request that includes the following details:

  1. Indicate that you're requesting an AG account for a Penn State paid employee and include your Office name.
  2. Include the employee's First and Last name.
  3. Include their Penn State UserID.
    -- For example (abc5555).
-- We do not need the nine-digit Penn State Employee ID number.
  4. Will they need an Outlook Exchange account created (for Email and Calendaring)?
  5. Will they need an account setup on an Enterprise machine?

The following text block may be copied and pasted into the Problem Details field on the form. You can then add the needed information in the form. You should send in this information in a separate request for each person.

Support will contact the new employee when the AG account is active. We will provide a temporary password for the AG account. We will also provide a listing of How To's that the new employee can follow to login and complete the setup of an Enterprise machine. At this point, the process should be done. If needed, we can schedule a time through Support to setup the employee on an Enterprise machine.
