Add a Shared Network Printer in a County Ext Office with a Print Server


This How To is especially designed for the county office that are using a Print Server. To see if your county is using a print server, click this link to go to the County Servers Project page. Click the "Map of Server Counties" link. If your office name has a (P) below its name, you can follow these steps.

Adding a Server Networked Printer

  1. Click Start and select Printers and Faxes.
  2. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a Printer. Click Next.
  3. Select the A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer radio button. Click Next.
  4. Select the Find a printer in the directory radio button. Click Next.
  5. In the Find Printers window, in the LOCATION field, type in the first three letters of the county. ex: Leb

    Note: This will help to narrow the search to just your county.



  6. Click the Find Now button. A list of available printers should be created at the bottom.
  7. Select the desired printer. Click OK.
  8. Choose whether or not you want the added printer as the default printer and click Next.
  9. Click Finish.

    Note: At this point, you should have the device listed in the Printers and Faxes folder.

    Note: You can Right Click on the Device Name and choose Properties. There should be a Print Test Page button. If desired, you can send a test page to the printer.
