Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences

Log into a SharePoint Site

SharePoint is the collaborative work space for groups in the college. A person must be given permission to login to specific SharePoint sites by being added as a member. Members must have a College of Ag Sciences AG account. (Penn State Access Accounts and Friends of Penn State accounts will not work.)

SharePoint sites are best viewed with a Windows computer using Internet Explorer 7 as the web browser.

To Log Into a SharePoint Site

Note:  In order to log in, a person must have a College of Ag Sciences AG account and have access to the specific SharePoint site.

Note: You must enter the full address of the SharePoint site (e.g. attempting to log-in at either of the two server's root level <http://sts.ag.psu.edu/> or <http://sharepoint.ag.psu.edu> will not work.

  1. Go to the Web address for the SharePoint site. This should have been provided to you by the Site Manager.
  • The address should start with either http://sts.ag.psu.edu/xx or http://sharepoint.ag.psu.edu/xx
(with your site's unique identifier in place of the xx)

  • Examples

    Capital Region - http://sts.ag.psu.edu/capital/default.aspx
    Ag IT Support - http://sharepoint.ag.psu.edu/it/support/default.aspx
  1. In the login box for Username, enter AG\ followed by your AG user account ID.
  • Where UserID is replaced by your AG user account ID (ex: ntv1)

    1. Enter your AG password.
  1. Click OK.

Note: You should now be at the homepage of the SharePoint site. If you have questions or problems with using SharePoint, contact Support via the Help Desk Submission Form.

Note: In the summer of 2006, the College switched from using WIN accounts to log in to SharePoint to AG accounts. If you are trying to log-in to a College website with your AG\userid name and what appears when you start typing is your old WIN\ name, you can clear this remembered form data. When you've completed the steps in this How To (Wrong" Information being entered in Internet Explorer Form), you should be able to log in to the needed site and have the "new" information be remembered instead.

Note: In Nov 2006 SharePoint sites were migrated to the AG domain from the AGSCI.WIN domain. The address to SharePoint sites changed. These sites start with http://sts.ag.psu.edu/ (instead of the old http://sts.agsci.win.psu.edu address). If you are having an issue with logging in to a SharePoint site, please change any existing links, favorites or bookmarks to use http://sts.ag.psu.edu/. Note: The remaining portion of the URL (e.g. the site name) will remain unchanged.

Note: In Jan 2008, another SharePoint server was brought on-line. This server uses another address, http://sharepoint.ag.psu.edu/xxxx. If you have a newer site, your address may start with this address.
