Create a button in Filemaker Pro v4


Buttons are very helpful to use in FileMaker. They can performs scripts or check spelling for the record, or even create a new record.

 

How to Create a button

  1. Within the FileMaker Pro file, go to the layout that you want to create the button on.
  2. From the Mode menu, choose Layout.
  3. On the left side, select the Button tool.
    - The button icon is a finger on an oval "button".
  4. Click and drag to create a button shape on the layout.
  5. In the Specify Button dialog box, choose what action you want the button to perform.
    - Example: Perform Script [...] or Check Spelling.
  6. If necessary complete the Options section.
  7. Click OK when done.
  8. Go to Browse Mode.
  9. Test the button.
