Exchange ActiveSync allows Window Mobile Phone PDAs to synchronize data with Exchange mailboxes. The synchronization of email, calendar, and Contacts requires a PDA that can connect to the Internet. This connection can be directly from the device using WiFi or a cellular network.
A traditional connection to a network-connected computer using the cradle, USB, infrared, or Bluetooth synchronizes via the desktop ActiveSync client. Exchange ActiveSync is an additional server-based synchronization agent that removes the dependency of a desktop computer and leverages the wireless capability of the device. The two methods of ActiveSync can be used in combination or independent of each other.

Palm Treo's can sync wirelessly with Exchange ActiveSync
http://www.palm.com/us/support/smartphones.html
Pre-steps
-
Go to your phone's Support download page.
-
Select your model. If needed, download and install any Updaters for your phone.
Example: the Treo 700w for Verizon Wireless lists an Updater 1.10 (as of Feb 14, 2007). Palm has detailed instructions about this at the following page: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/
Note: Hopefully your provider (Verizon, Sprint, etc.) is shipping the phone with its most up-to-date software version. Check the phone's documentation to see what OS version it has on it. If needed, you should call your provider for additional assistance.

How To Configure Exchange ActiveSync to AG.PSU.EDU
Note: These instructions were tested on a Palm Treo 700W. Settings may vary slightly from device to device.
-
From the Start menu, choose ActiveSync from the list of programs.
-
On the ActiveSync screen, tap Menu, and then the Configure Server button.
Note: Be sure that the CAPS LOCK is not turned on while performing these steps.
-
Enter the Server address: exchange.ag.psu.edu
-
Place a check in the This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection box.
-
Tap Next.
-
Enter your Exchange username and password
-
For your domain, enter: ag.psu.edu
-
If you want to synchronize automatically with the Exchange server, check the Save Password box.
-
Tap Next.
-
On the Edit Server Settings screen, you can choose the items you wish to synchronize with the Exchange server.
Note: If you are using a slow wireless connection, you may want to limit message size, attachment size, and the frequency of synchronization to help reduce the amount of data consumed by your device.
-
Once you have made your changes, if any, tap Finish to complete the setup.
-
After clicking Finish in Step 11, the synchronization process should begin. To manually synchronize, on the ActiveSync main page, tap the green icon with two arrows that has the word Sync next to it.
Note: If Activesync fails, try a Soft Reset of the device. Then perform a manual sync.
Tips for Syncing:
On the phone Home screen, click Start > ActiveSync > Menu > Schedule. Select the frequency of synchronization during peak hours (working hours) and off-peak hours (after hours and weekends) from the drop-down lists; time intervals range from 5 minutes to 4 hours (you may synchronize manually at any time).
Please note, when Windows Mobile has the latest feature pack installed there is new and preferred option which is set by default. Synch During is set to: "As items arrive" for both choices.
If you select the Send outgoing items immediately option, your outgoing messages will be sent when you tap the Send button; if not, mail will be sent at your selected interval or when you synchronize manually. The Status... option will display the results of the synchronization, including last attempted synchronization and the last successful synchronization.
