Saving an Excel Chart as a Web Page

One of the features of Excel is the ability to save a chart in HTML format.

How To Save an Excel Chart as a Web Page

  1. Open the desired worksheet if it is not already open.
  2. Make sure that all the work is saved.
  3. Click the chart or the chart sheet that you want to put on a Web page. Or, you may select the cell range around the chart.
  4. Office 2007 - From the Office button choose Save As and then select Other Formats. In Save as type choose Web Page.

Office 2003 - From the File menu choose Save as Web Page.

  5. In the Choose box, select Selection: Chart.
  6. To add a title to the saved worksheet, click Change Title, type the title you want, and click OK.
  7. In the File name box, re-name the file if needed.
  8. Locate the drive, folder, Web server, or FTP location where you want to save your worksheet.
  9. Click Save.

Note:
The file that results from the Save process can now be uploaded to your web site. If using Dreamweaver, you can apply a Template to the page to help it conform to your site's look and feel. Do NOT try to clean up the HTML. This page is using a number of custom tags and hidden tags that must stay there for the chart to be displayed properly.
