Preventing Graphics from Downloading in Excel
One of the features of Excel for Windows is the ability to save a Workbook in HTML format.
In Excel, you can prevent graphics from downloading into Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and other browsers that do not support Vector Markup Language (VML) format. By doing this, you can save your Web page faster in HTML format, take up less disk space, and decrease download time.
How To Prevent Graphics from Downloading in Excel 2000 and XP (2002)
-
From the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
-
Click Web Options.
-
[Win-Office 2000] Click the Pictures tab.
[Win-Office XP/2003] Click the Browsers tab.
-
Select the Rely on VML for displaying graphics in browsers check box.
-
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.0, this procedure decreases download time and the amount of space needed for the files, but the graphics will still appear on the Web page.
-
This option applies to the current page and any future pages that you save in Excel.
-
Before you send a worksheet in HTML format as an e-mail message with this option turned on, make sure that the recipient of your message can view the worksheet in an e-mail system that recognizes graphics in VML format. Otherwise, recipients won't see any graphics in the e-mail message.
