"Wrong" Information being Entered in Internet Explorer Form Fields

If you type a user name in an online form's Open dialog box, the Save As dialog box, or other Windows Explorer-style dialog boxes, an AutoComplete list of previously used names appears.

You may be trying to log-in to a College website with your AG\userid name and what appears when you start typing is your email address.
    Ex: win\vcv1 vs. vcv1@psu.edu

By default, Windows Explorer-style dialog boxes (for example, the Open dialog box and the Save As dialog box) both provide a Most Recently Used (MRU) list of names and an AutoComplete list of previously typed names. You can clear this remembered form data.

You can clear this remembered form data. When you've completed these steps, you should be able to log in to the needed site and have the "new" information be remembered instead.

How To Clear the AutoComplete Data in IE 7
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. In the Browsing History click Delete.
  3. Click the Delete forms button. Click Yes.

Other Cleanup steps: You can choose to delete Files, Cookies, History, and Passwords from this dialog box. If you are having issues with logging in to certain websites, you may want to use the Delete all button

  4. When finished, click Close.
  5. Click OK to save changes and exit the Internet Options Window.

Manage Stored User Names and Passwords on an EN Domain Computer
Stored User Names and Passwords is a secured store for password information. With this feature, you can enter user names and passwords for various network resources and applications (such asSharepoint) once, and then have Windows automatically supply that information for subsequent visits to those resources without your intervention.

Example: You may use these steps to remove what Windows has stored as it's "remembered" Username to a Sharepoint site.

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, open the User Accounts control panel.
  3. On the Users tab, click the user that you want.

NOTE: This is normally your User Name in the AG domain.
NOTE: Do NOT delete any "Account Unknown" entries if they exist.

  4. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Manage Passwords button.

    * This will open the Stored User Names and Passwords dialog box. A list of stored user names and passwords may appear.
    * Entries for College's Sharepoint sites may say "http://sharepoint.ag.psu.edu" OR http://sts.ag.psu.edu/
    * Other entries may be for "*.Microsoft.com" or "Passport.Net\*(Passport)"

  5. Select the entry you wish to remove. Then click Remove. Click OK.
  6. If you are done, click Close. Click OK.

Note: If you wish to edit the User name for an entry, click Properties. You can edit the ONLY the User name. If you are having password issues, it is better to remove the entry and have it re-added the next time you visit the site. DO NOT - REPEAT - DO NOT use the Change button to change the Domain Password!!
