After Hours Emergency Contact Number
IT has established an after hours support service for problems which may be encountered with college servers. The service is available 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The number is NOT to be used for after hours Computer Support questions, as it connects directly to the Penn State Call Center.
The number 814-865-1753 should be used to report the evening or weekend unavailability of a network service provided by IT. These services include email (Outlook/Exchange), file servers (My Documents), and web sites hosted on the college server. If for any reason you cannot access one of these services after normal working hours, please call the emergency number.
This call WILL NOT be answered directly by an IT staff member. It will be received by the Call Center at Penn State. First identify yourself as being from the College of Agricultural Sciences. They will ask for your name, a number where you can be reached if a call back is required, and the service you cannot access. Once they have that information, they will notify IT staff of the problem.
IT staff will first attempt to remotely diagnose and correct the problem. If remote correction is not possible, and it is determined that the problem does not originate at the university level, an IT specialist will be sent directly to our server center. Once the problem is resolved, we will attempt to contact the original caller through the contact number provided to verify either that the problem has been corrected, or that it is a Penn State network or Internet outage causing the problem.
