Run Symantec Endpoint Protection LiveUpdate Check
Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is configured to check for newer virus defintions on a daily basis. You can check for these updates manually at any time.
NOTE: These steps are written for College Enterprise (EN) Computers with Windows XP.
Run SEP LiveUpdate Check

Right Click on the Symantec Endpoint Protection icon (see below, looks like a Yellow Shield with a green dot) in the lower right corner of the screen and then Left Click on the words Open Symantec Endpoint Protection.

On the left side of the window, click the LiveUpdate button.

Wait while LiveUpdate connects and scans for updates.

Click Close to close LiveUpdate, or wait 5 seconds and the LiveUpdate dialog box will close on its own.
Tip: To see if new virus definitions were loaded, click the View logs button. In the Antivirus and Antispyware Protection section, click the View Logs button and choose System Log. In the Event column, look for 'Definition File Download' and 'Definition File Loaded' entries. Click OK to close the Log window.

Click the Close (Red X) button to close the Symantec Endpoint Protection window.
