Whenever you install a new program or device driver on your computer, you should first create a system restore point to safeguard against any problems which may arise due to the program or the device driver. Creating a system restore point allows your computer to be returned to the healthy, functioning state it was in just prior to the installation. To create a system restore point for your EN computer running Windows XP follow these steps.

How to create a System Restore Point
  1. Quit all running apps
  2. Go to Start... All Programs... Accessories... System Tools... System Restore
  3. At Welcome Screen, click CREATE A RESTORE POINT... click Next
  4. Name the Restore Point.
    • Ex: Before I installed PageMaker
    • The date and time will automatically appear in the Restore Point so you don't have to include these in the name.
  5. Click Create.

How to go back to a Restore Point:

NOTE: This will only restore system settings...not any lost data.
  1. Quit all running apps
  2. Start...All Programs... Accessories... System Tools...System Restore.
  3. At select a Restore Point, choose APPROPRIATE Date... click Next
  4. Confirm (make sure it's what you want)
  5. Click Next

TIP: During the restoration, system restore shuts down Windows. After the restoration is complete, Windows restarts using the settings for the date and time listed above.
