InoculateIT Personal Edition is an anti-virus program for Windows endorsed for a time by the Information Technology Services, Consulting and Support Services.  It is compatible with Windows 9x, NT, and 2000.  InoculateIT was an alternative to VirusScan 4.5.

Recommended use of InoculateIT by ICT is being discontinued. As of May 15, 2002 InoculateITwill no longer be free. Users of InoculateIT should uninstall InoculateIT and install Norton AntiVirus. Because of a contract between Penn State and Symantec, Norton AntiVirus software is now available at no cost to Penn State students, faculty, and staff. Norton Antivirus may be loaded on ONE REGISTERED university computer.


Removing InoculateIT Personal Edition
  1. Under the Start menu choose Programs.
  2. Choose InoculateIt Personal Edition and Open InoculateIT.
  3. Under the Options Menu Choose Options Wizard.
  4. Write down the licensing information, especially your customer number.
    1. You will need this number if you have to reinstall InoculateIT.
  5. Click Cancel to exit the Options Wizard.
  6. Click Yes to exit the configuration setup.
  7. Under the Start menu choose Settings then choose Control Panel.
  8. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
  9. Select InoculateIT Personal Edition from the list of installed programs,
  10. In Windows 98, click the Add/Remove Button
    In Windows 2000, click the Change/Remove button
  11. Click Yes when you are asked if you want remove InoculateIT Personal Edition.
  12. InoculateIT will now be uninstalled on your computer.
  13. When prompted, click OK.
  14. Click Yes to restart your computer.
  15. When the computer is restarted, double click on My Computer.
  16. Double Click on Local Disk (C:).
  17. Double click on Program Files.
    1. If prompted, click Show Files.
  18. If there is an InoculateIT PE folder present, delete it. If not, then close your open windows.
  19. Removal is complete.
