Computer Support recommends that you download and install SpywareBlaster as PART of a spyware prevention process. SpywareBlaster helps prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, and other potentially unwanted software. It will also block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer as well.

On Jan 1, 2006 Javacool Software released an updated version of SpywareBlaster. These steps will help you update version 3.2, 3.3, or 3.4 of SpywareBlaster to version 3.5.1. If you do not have SpywareBlaster installed, see How To Install and Configure SpywareBlaster instead.

Please close SpywareBlaster before using these steps. You do not need to uninstall the older version first.

These steps are written for computers with Windows XP Professional.

Verify that you need the Updated Software

If you are already using SpywareBlaster version 3.5.1, you don't need to follow this How To. To see what version you have, do these steps.

  1. Start SpywareBlaster by double clicking the SpywareBlaster shortcut on the desktop.
You may also click Start, then All Programs, then SpywareBlaster and then SpywareBlaster.
  2. In the lower-left corner of the SpywareBlaster window you will see a version number.
  3. If it says Version 3.2 or Version 3.3 or Version 3.4,you should follow the remaining steps.
If it says Version 3.5.1, you do not need to follow the steps. You have the current version.
